Australia is a place where you can live your life to the fullest. It is a magnificent country with more than a few stunning cities that have a lot to offer. Both to youngsters and the elderly.

After all, the fun doesn’t stop when we get old and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Let’s take a look at a few hand-picked cities in the land down under that are perfect for the older generations.

Adelaide

Adelaide

This cozy gem that sits in South Australia is a really good option to consider if you like both the beach and good wine. Adelaide boasts some truly marvelous beaches with clean waters and it is only a short drive away from wine country.

Therefore, settling for a nice beachside home there will most certainly provide you with some nice, relaxing days under the sun along with nights full of splendid vistas and tasty wine.

The weather is almost always perfect and most Australians claim themselves that Adelaide is the nation’s ‘most livable’ place. With more than a quarter of the population aged 55 or over, Adelaide is a choice worth considering.

Sydney

Sydney

It’s located on the east coast and it goes by the name of Sydney. Oh yes, it’s that city with an awesome Opera House, well-known Bondi Beach and massive steel arched bridge called Sydney Harbour Bridge.

You’ve probably envisioned at least one of the three mentioned sights by now. And even though many people believe that Sydney is only for the youngsters, that’s not the case.

There are great aged care facilities that provide the elderly with everything they need. For example, an awesome facility in Vaucluse (eastern suburb of Sydney) tailors everything according to the individual’s needs. The staff is well educated, the residents live their lives to the fullest (according to their own wishes) and everyone’s there for the comfort of the elderly.

Melbourne

Melbourne

Melbourne – Australia’s cultural capital that established itself as a prosperous city more than a century ago. Every year since 2011, Melbourne has been topping the list of the ‘World’s Most Livable Cities’.

It takes pride in its healthcare and infrastructure, very low murder rate and the fact that it’s located on Port Phillip which is a wide natural bay at the southern tip of the continent. The Melbourne metro area includes around 30 smaller towns and that stretch covers a range of living options from downtown high-rises and Victorian terraces to modest beach houses.

Even though this city is still relatively expensive to live in, it’s well worth it.

Perth

Perth

Perth is a city of beautiful beaches, temperate climate, and vibrant people. Most importantly, Perth is a place where there are dozens of options when it comes to recreation and activities of the elderly.

Local parks are great, they are clean and have many beautiful green spaces, reserves and gardens perfect for a relaxing time or a picnic with friends. Also, there are various computer clubs for those who’d like to become more tech-savvy.

Of course, there is the Fremantle Harbour which is only half an hour away from the city center and is home to the Arts Centre and the Old Courthouse along with the Maritime Museum which is a must see. Enjoy the scene or try some home-made beer at the local pubs.

Tweed Heads

Tweed Heads

This little haven is located on the border of NSW and Queensland. It’s often referred to as a town that changes time zones and celebrates new year twice in an hour due to its proximity to the border.

Tweed Heads is the 6th most populated town in NSW and the average age for residents is 54. It is also one of the richest areas for flora and fauna in Australia and it lies in the middle of Australia’s Green Cauldron National landscape. Seniors will also be spoilt for choice when it comes to activities (live music, tours and day trips, quality dining, etc.).

The attractions, the standard of living, the climate, these are the reasons why everyone, especially seniors, should at least consider one of the listed cities above to be their new home.
