When it is about Germany, activities in Munich are the ones that fill my mind immediately. Certainly, the same case is with you. You can see throughout the whole country plenty of amazing activities which catches the eye of its spectator.

Entertainment, fun, sports events, music festivals, carnivals, theaters, and many more activities are available in Munich. It is just up to you to decide which one will you try and experience. What I can guarantee is that no one will be regretting it. This city has so much to offer indeed. I am sure that you know this too very well. It is impossible to write about them all but I will try to describe the best ones in my opinion.

F.C. Bayern Munich

I am aware of how big the impact this phenomenal football club has. Bayern Munich undoubtedly simply has to be on the list of your activities in Munich.

Why do I mean that?

Because this club has so many supporters across the globe. And that just confirms how big the influence in the world of football and sport, in general, this club provides. Even though you are not a special fan of this sport, you should not hesitate to visit the famous Allianz Arena. This stadium is many children’s dreams. I know that every kid who likes kicking the ball has a dream to play for the biggest club in our country.

That is completely understandable. Also, you can visit Bayern Munich’s shop and museum of trophies. This club has a rich background and history so you must visit these places. As I know, Bayern is a common participant in the Champions League competition which is the biggest European club contest. That is already a good reason to visit it.

Munich’s castles

One of the most interesting activities in Munich is castles. Neuschwanstein castle is surely the one that you must visit. This castle is a truly astonishing place. It is the most famous castle in Germany. Also, the most visited one. Breathtaking views on the village in front are just among the list of experiences that you will get from it.

What is more interesting are Alpine foothills in the south and a hilly landscape in the north that appears flat. You should get the will to visit it. Another one that will without a mistake caught your attention is Linderhof Palace. This majestic villa is one of King Ludwig’s II most remarkable creations, beside the Neuschwanstein.

What is most attractive about this palace?

I suppose that the beautiful terraces and spacious landscape garden will take the blame for that. Every person who likes art will be in awe after seeing this castle. Its natural beauty is unforgettable. This castle’s interior designs are made in the style of Second Rococo. What is worthy of visiting too is the Schlosspark. At this place, you will see a lot of remarkable things. Venus Grotto, Hunding’s Hut are just some of them.

Inevitable activities in Munich: The Breweries

Dozens of people in the world like drinking beer. This beverage is a part of many country’s histories. We all know that is also the case with Germany, especially the city of Munich.

Among the activities in Munich, I am aware that this one you cannot avoid. Drinking beer is a part of every visitor in this city. Because you can have access to a lot of different breweries, you will have almost infinite types of beer to try. Foaming beer is every man’s satisfaction. At least among the ones who like drinking it.

That amount of people is enormous right?

Well yeah, that’s true. This city has many legendary breweries to offer. Maybe not every one of you will have an opportunity to visit them all. At least not in one visit. What I can suggest is the famous Hofbrauhaus brewery. I think that this facility is on the list of every traveler. It has a long history and very big significance for the people of Munich. If you like having a nice lunch with the best possible beer, you should consider visiting this brewery.

A Segway Tour

For the lovers of riding, there are activities in Munich for that kind of person too. A Segway Tour approximately takes 3 hours. Through this experience, you can discover a different perspective of the city squares and sights. Before using it, you will probably have a personal training about using the Segway. I assure you it is not hard at all. So, don’t scare yourself.

A helmet will be a part of your equipment so there will not be a place for fear. Just relax and have fun with Segway. This type of activity will provide you something different than the usual one. The best places you will visit are the English Garden and the Angel of Peace. Also, you will be available to see Munich’s famous Eisbach, the Hofgarten and the Siegestor. I deeply recommend this activity to every person who likes adrenaline and riding.

Viktualienmarkt

Activities in Munich fill the body with a great amount of energy. Because every single one of them provides excitement and thrill. Viktualienmarkt is an activity that offers these experiences too. This is Munich’s most famous outdoor marketplace. Shopping will probably be on your list of ‘things to do’ so visiting this market will not be a mistake. Just the opposite.

You will not have a problem accessing this area because you can find it in the center of Munich.

A marketplace like this one spreads on 20.000+ square meters. If you intend to visit it whole, probably you wouldn’t be able to do it because of its size.

What you can find at this place are different kinds of fruits, spices, cheese, flowers, games, fish and many others. It is worthy of mentioning that there are special opening hours for bakeries, flower shops, and restaurants. Nevertheless, most of the shops and stalls are open during the official opening hours from Monday to Saturday. You can see this market from a nearby Peterskirche so if you find yourself at that place consider moving on to this marketplace.

Music festivals in Munich

As you can presume, there are many concerts and music festivals in this city. Munich is a home of many famous artists and musicians like Richard Strauss, Milli Vanilli, Rob Pilatus and more.

A piece of music for everybody’s ears is available in this city. Hip hop, rock, classic music, and alternative music are just some of the genres you can hear.

Theatron Festival

This festival provides a variety of music genres appropriate for everyone. Rock music and hip hop are the most common but are not the only ones. Also, many international bands who prefer alternative music often perform at this festival.

Opera Festival

This is one of the most traditional music festivals in Munich. It has a long background indeed.

Usually, it takes place in July.

This festival is probably the best known for its varied program. Opera festival offers new productions called ‘Open for all’ or ‘Oper fur alle’.

Hop-On, Hop-Off Tour

This is kind of a tour that offers a different level of knowing the city’s beauties, monuments and stuff of historical significance. A hop-on, hop-off tour is usually a panoramic 1 or 2-day tour with a double-decker bus. This is a perfect activity for people who enjoy panoramic sightseeing. You sit in a comfortable bus and take pictures of all the things you like.

What can you demand more?

It is the ideal opportunity for older people to discover parts of the city that they cannot visit on foot. But don’t be so naïve. Many youngsters use this activity to explore Munich’s squares and streets.

With this experience, you can visit the Olympic Park and Nymphenburg Palace. Also, you will always have the chance to get on or off the bus if you like to experience the city at your own pace. If I am not wrong, people usually have an audio guide in many languages on the bus. You can agree that it is a great and useful thing. For one price, people can visit up to 13 stops throughout Munich. That is a nice amount, isn’t it?

Dachau Memorial Site

From all the activities in Munich, Dachau Memorial Site is perhaps the most one from which you can learn something. The location of this place is about 16km from Munich. This is one of the first Nazi concentration camps. It was opened in 1933 to hold the political prisoners.

The man who is responsible for its opening is Heinrich Himmler. His purpose was the imprisonment of the Jews and German and Austrian criminals. What will presumably leave the best impression on you is the Dachau’s Jourhaus with the infamous sign, Arbeit Macht Frei. This little tour will also provide you a Memorial-qualified guide so you can ask whatever you don’t possibly understand.

Conclusion

Furthermore, you will have a chance to discuss and reflect on one of the darkest points in recent history. That’s why I have the opinion that from this tour you will earn the most. The only deficiency you will face is food. Therefore, carry some food with you because it will not be included in the tour.
