The Munich Documentation Center for the History of National Socialism was built on the site of former NSDAP’s headquarters, the so-called “Brown House“. It opened in May 2015 as a place of education and rememberance addressing the crimes of the Nazi dictatorship.

Their origins, manifestations and consequences right up to the present day are documented, with special regard to the role of Munich as the former “Capital of the Movement“.

The permanent exhibition documents the history of the city’s special role in the Nazi system of terror and Munich’s difficulties in confronting its past after 1945. Beside the permanent exhibition there are various special exhibitions and events, a learning center and several educational ressources.
The concept is to acknowledge, to learn about and to understand the history of this location.

The Munich Documentation Center is located centrally at the Königsplatz; it only takes 10 minutes by foot from the Central Station to get here.
